Machine Idle (aka Ryan Romanowski) is an experimental/electronic artist from New Jersey who channels Radiohead vibes and oddly fascinating/unique production techniques for his songs. "The Largest Antlers" is the first single he released. It is dark and strange, but it makes me want to keep listening. The videos (which he edits himself) are equally weird and somewhat creepy. I dig it. A lot.

The track is pretty much all acoustic with swirls and layers of ambient noises, delays and reverbs. The space is airy, static-like and vulnerable all packaged into 3 minutes and fifty-two seconds. The vocals are distorted and robotic. It sounds as if someone poured water onto a computer and forced it to sing. Nothing about this track sounds natural. Everything is processed heavily and it will take multiple listens to TLA to fully grasp the sonic palette of colors and sounds that are used. Romanowski took a simple acoustic guitar melody and transformed it into a binary choir. The use of panning creates a stuttering effect and the guitar taps create a jumpy kind of movement. The song's changing guitar riffs create many different feelings for me. It has a melancholy, yet uplifting spiritual vibe. If you listen to some of John Frusciante's (ex Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist) experimental  solo stuff and then listen to this song, the feelings are very similar, especially when he goes into that lower register around 1:53. Try and recreate this song. I dare you. Only Machine Idle can do it.
